The Office of Academic Affairs is responsible for overseeing the University's total educational program including:
- Curriculum development
- Academic standards in the colleges of the University
- Supervision of the library
- Continuing education
- Research and sponsored programs
- Academic advising and placement

The University of Houston-Downtown has four innovative, degree-granting colleges:
- Marilyn Davies College of Business
- College of Humanities and Social Sciences
- College of Sciences and Technology
- College of Public Service
Other Components of Academic Affairs
The W. I. Dykes Library is located on the fourth and fifth floor of the historic One Main Building. The library provides books, journals, and audiovisual materials to meet lifelong learning needs of the faculty, staff, and students of UHD. In addition to UHD resources, we offer full borrowing privileges at the libraries at the other University of Houston System campuses.
The Office of Study Abroad helps support the University's international initiatives through the collection and distribution of information, and by overseeing UHD Study Abroad Scholarship program.
The Office of Institutional Effectiveness exists to support units throughout the university in their continuing efforts to accomplish UHD's mission.
Data Analytics & Institutional Research
The mission of the Office of Data Analytics & Institutional Research (DAIR) is to effectively and efficiently provide the planning and institutional research support needed by the University.
As part of our commitment to increasing access to higher education, we offer students courses and programs at various sites in the Houston metropolitan area and online.
These sites include:
- UHD Northwest at Lone Star College - University Park
- UHD at Lone Star College - CyFair
- UHD at Lone Star College - Kingwood

Office of Research & Sponsored Research
The Office of Research & Sponsored Programs provide encouragement and assistance to faculty and staff who engages in sponsored research intended to extend knowledge for the University community, and the greater community that the institution serves.
