Afro-Latino Day
Sponsored by The Center for Latino Studies series exploring Afro-Latinidad within UHD and Houston celebrates “Afro-Latino Day”. It is an invitation to UHD students and the community to explore, learn and celebrate Afro-Latino culture through presentations by poet and scholar Jennifer Maritza McCauley and poet Natasha Carrizosa, along with an interactive bachata dance instructional.

An event collaboration with The Center for Latino Studies celebrated various Latinx/e communities within UHD and the greater Houston area. This was opportunity to showcase our Afro-Latino Heritage Story Map project with the community. The event included performances by local Garifuna dances and children’s activities.
